Renewable Energy Index Reveals Encouraging Renewable Stats

The Renewable Energy Index which has just been launched has shown renewable energy sources in Australia produced enough electricity to power 70% of households in Australia, reports news.com.au. The energy market analyst, Green Energy markets will be publishing a monthly index so that Australians can follow the renewable sector that includes job creation, pollution reduction, increased power supply and power bill savings from rooftop solar

The 2016-2017 Benchmark Report was funded by GetUp and revealed that power provided by renewables was predominantly from hydro and wind. Placing in 3rd is solar rooftops.

The Renewable Energy Index will help the renewable industry to:

  • Add enough electricity to power an additional 1.5 million homes
  • Reduce carbon pollution
  • Create jobs
