PM Turnbull Calls South Australia’s Energy Policy “Ideology and Idiocy”

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull describes Premier Jay Weatherill’s renewable energy projects policy as “ideology and idiocy in equal measure” as reported by ABC News.

PM Turnbull said that South Australia has been subjected to an energy experiment. He also said that South Australia’s power was the least reliable in the country because Weatherill’s policy had made the state depend on renewables that often changed due to conditions and did not provide storage or backup power.

PM Turnbull also:

  • Did not agree with South Australia’s $50 million investment the world’s most powerful lithium ion battery to be built by Tesla
  • Addressed the allegation of water theft and meter tampering in the Murray Darling system.
